Manual TerraExplorer Install

We've never had an installation problem or conflict with this viewer and it will not tinker with any of your existing system settings. It is very light-weight and non-aggressive software. The software was written by the professionals at Skyline Software Systems Inc, not by us, so you please don't let installation fears keep you from trying it out. We chose a manual install rather than autodetect and install so that you would be fully aware of what was happening and remain in control of your system.

The reason that it requires software to be installed on your computer is for improved performance. If our computers have to do all of the thinking and then send you the results, there will be an unacceptable lag in flight motion. With this software installed, your machine is in control, just like a video game, and only needs to contact our server when it needs new terrain data.

Note: After installing the software, be sure to use Internet Explorer when launching various applications. Other browsers often have file association troubles.

1. System Requirements
You system needs to meet these minumum requirements:
Operating System - Windows 95/98/NT/2000/Me/XP,
System Memory - 128 MB RAM or more
Video Card - 64mb of memory or more recommended
Internet Connection - Broadband connection recommended.
Browser - IE 5.5 or higher installed on system.

2. Download TerraExplorer Version 4.6.2 (1.8Mb - June 30, 2005)
Click Here To Download - Save the TerraExplorer installation zip file (TEv462.zip) to a local directory on your hard drive.

3. Install TerraExplorer
After completing the download, navigate to the directory where you saved the installation zip file and extract all the files in it. Double Click on the " Setup.exe " file to install the application.

4. Run TerraExplorer
Return to the Fly Now! page and select any 3D content link there to start exploring the world in 3D. Note that the links you will find on the intro page of TerraExplorer are not EarthSLOT links, but ones that Skyline Software hosts.

Notes:
Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher must be installed on the system. Get the latest version of IE from Microsoft's Download Center

After installing TerraExplorer, Netscape users must close all browser windows and reopen Netscape before Netscape will recognize links to 3D FLY files.
