Terrain Builder 3D Maps
Have you ever wondered how soil erosion works? There are many geography software programs that use 3D maps to show many of the features of the earth but many do not show how soil erosion works quite like the terrain builder program. Though the program does not show the world map by itself it does allow you to view different landscapes and how erosion can affect these various landscapes. The program is a stand alone program which means that it does not need the internet to work and it can run on the computer without further installation. The program is ideal for showing how erosion can affect a land mass’ shape whatever type of landmass it is. This is a great tool for college students and professors who want to demonstrate the effects of natural disasters over time or if you want to show the effects of global warming on land masses in icy areas over time. In addition to this the terrain builder software can take the place of the terrain map in your geography book by showing you interactively what a certain place’s terrain will look like right on your computer screen.
In order to run terrain builder on your computer you will need to go to the soil-net.com site and double click on the link that is right on the terrain builder page. When you run the program for the first time you should be given a flat landscape and in order to view different landscapes you will have to build them yourself but this is very easy to do with this program. To build landscapes simply adjust your hilliness and roughness characteristics and press the generator button. It is that easy and when you are ready to see how the land will erode you simply click on the button for this. In addition to this you can change the rendering of the surface and move the landscape any way you deem fit. The zoom feature is also a great way to isolate certain parts of your landscape.
